Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus at the highly anticipated “It’s Glowtime” event. These latest models serve as successors to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, bringing a host of new features, including a more powerful A18 chipset, the introduction of the Action Button, and Apple Intelligence. With both smartphones set to make waves in the Indian market, here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know.
iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus Prices in India
The iPhone 16 starts at Rs. 79,900 for the base 128GB model. For more storage, Apple offers two additional variants priced at Rs. 89,900 for the 256GB version and Rs. 1,09,900 for the 512GB version.
The iPhone 16 Plus is available starting at Rs. 89,900 for the 128GB variant, while the 256GB and 512GB options are priced at Rs. 99,900 and Rs. 1,19,900, respectively.
Both devices will go on sale in India starting from September 20, with pre-orders beginning on September 13 at 5:30 pm.
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus Design and Colors
In terms of design, both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus maintain the Dynamic Island display and flat edges found in last year’s models. However, a notable change is the vertical rear camera layout, reminiscent of the iPhone X design, a departure from the diagonal camera setup of their predecessors. Apple also claims that the new models are 50% stronger than the iPhone 15 series, enhancing durability.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16Plus come in five attractive color options: Green, White, Pink, Blue, and Black.
Action Button and Camera Control: New Additions
For the first time, the Action Button, previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models, is available on the standard iPhone models. Alongside this, Apple has introduced a new Camera Control button located on the right side of the device, just below the power button. This button allows users to quickly access the camera, offering functions like autofocus, capture, and zoom with intuitive taps and swipes.
Moreover, this new Camera Control feature supports Apple’s Visual Intelligence, providing users with detailed information about objects they capture, a feature set to roll out later this year.
iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus Specifications
Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16Plus share the same internal specifications, with differences in display size and battery capacity. The iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, while the iPhone 16 Plus boasts a larger 6.7-inch screen. Both screens support up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and include Ceramic Shield protection for added durability.
At the core of both phones is the A18 chipset, which is 30% faster than the previous A16 Bionic processor, delivering a smoother experience. The GPU is also 40% faster, making it ideal for graphics-intensive tasks and gaming.
Camera Capabilities
On the camera front, the iPhone 16 series features a 48MP primary sensor that doubles as a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom. Additionally, there’s a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, which supports macro photography. For selfies and video calls, a 12MP TrueDepth camera is present on the front.
A new camera feature allows for Spatial video and photo capture, enhancing multimedia capabilities for users.
Software and Other Features
Running on iOS 18, the iPhone 16 series introduces Apple Intelligence, bringing advanced AI features to the table. The phones also come with IP68 water and dust resistance, Wi-Fi 7, Dolby Atmos, Spatial Audio, and NFC for seamless connectivity.
