Motorola is gearing up to launch the 2024 version of its iconic flip phone, the Motorola Razr 50, in India. The company has already teased the phone on its X handle, highlighting the device’s significantly larger cover screen and enhanced camera capabilities that come with this form factor.
Motorola Razr 50 Massive Cover Screen
The teaser clip, which is just 10 seconds long, showcases the new Razr 50’s cover screen, which is substantially larger than its predecessor, the Razr 40. For context, the Razr 50’s cover screen measures 3.6 inches diagonally, a notable increase of 2.1 inches from the previous model’s cover screen. This larger screen size allows users to perform more tasks directly from the cover display, such as setting timers for hands-free selfies or group photos, and getting a clearer view during video calls and photo sessions.

The cover screen is likely to be an AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1056 x 1066 pixels, offering a pixel density of 413 ppi. It may also support a 90Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and reach a peak brightness of 1,700 nits, all protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. For comparison, the recently launched Razr 50 Ultra in India features a slightly larger 4-inch cover screen with a similar pixel density.
Expected Specifications of the Motorola Razr 50
While Motorola hasn’t officially confirmed all details for the Indian variant, the specs of the Razr 50’s Chinese edition give us a good idea of what to expect:
- Main Display: The Razr 50 is anticipated to feature a 6.9-inch LTPO foldable AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. This display could achieve a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, making it significantly brighter than its predecessor, which topped out at 1,400 nits.
- Performance: Under the hood, the Razr 50 might be powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 7300X chipset. It could be paired with a 4,200mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. Additional features could include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and the latest Android 14 software.
- Camera Setup: The cover screen might house a 32MP camera, while the rear of the phone could sport a dual-camera setup, consisting of a 50MP primary sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens. Video recording capabilities may include support for 4K at 30 FPS on both the front and rear cameras.
Pricing and Availability
While the exact pricing has yet to be announced, it is expected that the Motorola Razr 50 will be priced around Rs 70,000, aligning with the price of the Razr 40 Peach edition, which was launched earlier this year.
As the launch approaches, all eyes will be on whether Motorola brings the Razr 50 to India with the same specifications as its Chinese counterpart. Stay tuned for the official launch and announcement of detailed specs.
