Google recently launched its Pixel 9 series, including the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, at the annual Made by Google event. While the series introduced significant upgrades, particularly with display technology, there was initial confusion regarding the specifications for the Indian market.

Pixel 9 Pro Series Initial Display Discrepancies Resolved

When the Pixel 9 series was first listed on Google’s support page, the Indian variants of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL were noted as having standard Actua displays, unlike the LTPO Super Actua screens confirmed for other regions. This discrepancy, spotted by GSMArena, sparked concerns about a potential downgrade for Indian consumers. However, Google has since updated the listing, confirming that the Indian, Malaysian, and Singaporean variants will indeed feature the same high-quality Super Actua LTPO displays as other markets.

Pixel 9 Pro Series Wi-Fi 7 Support Not Available in India

One significant difference remains for the Indian market—Wi-Fi 7 support. The Indian variants of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL lack Wi-Fi 7 due to current regulatory restrictions in the country. Although the hardware in these devices is capable of supporting Wi-Fi 7, Google may enable this feature through a software update once Indian authorities grant the necessary approval.

Pixel 9 Pro Series

Detailed Specifications

The Pixel 9 Pro features a 6.3-inch Super Actua (LTPO) OLED display with a resolution of 1,280 x 2,856 pixels, a pixel density of 495ppi, and peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. The display also supports a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The larger Pixel 9 Pro XL comes with a 6.8-inch Super Actua (LTPO) OLED display, boasting a resolution of 1,344 x 2,992 pixels, 486ppi pixel density, and the same peak brightness and refresh rate as the Pro model.

Meanwhile, the standard Pixel 9 is equipped with a 6.3-inch Actua OLED display, offering a resolution of 1,080 x 2,424 pixels, a pixel density of 422ppi, a peak brightness of 2,700 nits, and a refresh rate that varies between 60Hz and 120Hz.

All three models are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and are powered by Google’s latest Tensor G4 SoC, accompanied by the Titan M2 security coprocessor, ensuring top-notch performance and security.

While the Pixel 9 series brings advanced display technology and robust performance, Indian consumers will have to wait for Wi-Fi 7 support due to regulatory restrictions. With the display confusion now clarified, buyers in India can expect the same high-end visual experience as in other regions, making the Pixel 9 Pro series a compelling choice in the premium smartphone market.
