Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant, is reportedly working on a groundbreaking technology to introduce larger batteries with impressive fast charging capabilities in its upcoming smartphones. Following the recent release of the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition, which featured a 5,500mAh battery with 120W fast charging, the company is now said to be aiming even higher with battery capacities up to 7,500mAh.
Xiaomi Expanding Battery Capacities
According to a report by a reliable source, Tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Xiaomi is exploring several fast charging solutions for smartphones equipped with batteries ranging from 5,500mAh to 7,500mAh. The company is allegedly testing various combinations, including a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging and a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging, the latter of which could fully charge the device in just 18 minutes.
The source also claims that Xiaomi is experimenting with a 6,000mAh battery paired with 120W fast charging, which could achieve a full charge in 34 minutes. Another combination under consideration is a 6,500mAh battery with 100W charging, capable of reaching full charge in 30 minutes.
Xiaomi Pushing the Limits: 7,000mAh and 7,500mAh Batteries
Xiaomi’s research is said to extend to even larger battery capacities. The company is reportedly working on a 7,000mAh battery with 120W charging support, which could fully charge in 49 minutes. Additionally, a 7,500mAh battery combined with 100W charging is being considered, with the potential to reach full charge in 63 minutes.
Competition on the Horizon
Xiaomi isn’t the only player in the market working on enhancing battery technology. Rival companies like OnePlus and Oppo are also expected to introduce smartphones with larger batteries. OnePlus, for instance, launched the Ace 3 Pro with a 6,100mAh battery in June, and both OnePlus and Oppo are rumored to be testing prototypes featuring 6,500mAh batteries using next-generation silicon materials.
Current Offerings
Xiaomi has already made significant strides in battery technology with its current lineup. Most smartphones in its portfolio, including the recently launched Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and Redmi K70 Ultra, come with 5,000mAh to 5,500mAh batteries. These models feature 120W fast charging, capable of filling the battery from zero to 100 percent in just 24 minutes.
As Xiaomi continues to innovate in battery technology, consumers can look forward to future smartphones that not only boast larger battery capacities but also offer faster charging times. With competitors like OnePlus and Oppo also pushing the envelope, the race to develop the most efficient battery solutions is heating up, promising exciting advancements in the smartphone industry.
